Sony at CES 2020 Sony introduced the Vision-S electric car model. The sedan will be controlled through built-in touch displays.
The car is equipped with two engines with a total capacity of 200 kW or 272 hp. It is capable of accelerating to 100 km / h in 4.8 seconds. The maximum speed of the electric car reaches 240 km / h.
The Vision-S also has a 360-degree audio system. 33 sensors are designed for autopilot. They include high-resolution HDR-compatible CMOS image sensors (for detecting roads, detecting objects and detecting colors), solid-state LiDAR (for day and night vision and detecting objects) and radar for determining relative speed and distance. In addition, there are flight time sensors (ToF) that can detect and recognize people and objects inside and outside the car.
At this stage, autonomous driving skills are at level 2. This means that the system can fully control acceleration, braking and steering, but the driver must monitor the reaction of the car in the event of a system failure.
Magna developed the car platform, it also includes accessories from NVIDIA, BlackBerry, Continental, Genetex, Qualcomm and Bosch.
The company has not yet announced whether Vision-S will be released into mass production or whether it will remain in the form of a concept. During the press conference, Sony only stated that it was created to demonstrate the developed and proposed automotive technologies.
In December, Volkswagen revealed the concept of autonomous robotic charging of electric vehicles. A robot developed by specialists is able to bring a device for charging to a vehicle.
Meanwhile, Tesla has patented a new technology for cleaning car windows with lasers. The system will track dirt on the windows using sensors in the cabin and on the body. The sensor will evaluate the contamination, after which the system will clean the surface with a laser beam.
